Attend the picture book launch of Neela Vaswani’s This is My Eye. Text and photographs by Neela Vaswani.

This is My Eye is a story of perspective, identity, place, and ways of seeing. Look through one young girl’s eyes as she travels through her New York City. Neela and musician/composer Milica Paranosic will present the book in a family-oriented performance, followed by interactive photography and musical activities designed to encourage kids to create--and express themselves and their joy.

A Junior Library Guild selection, This is My Eye: A New York Story will be available at the event. Light refreshments will be served.

Neela Vaswani is the award-winning author of books for children and adults. She is the recipient of the American Book Award, a PEN/O.Henry Prize, the ForeWord Book of the Year Gold Medal, the Italo Calvino Prize for Emerging Writers, the Nautilus Book Award, and many other literary honors. She received a Grammy award for her narration of I Am Malala: How One Girl Stood Up for Education and Changed the World and an Audie Award for her narration of Same Sun Here. She has a PhD in Cultural Studies, lives in New York City, and teaches at Spalding University’s brief-residency MFA in Writing Program.
