A Creative Writing Adventure With Poems and Letters
Date and Time:
May 26, 2018 - 10:00AM to 11:30AM
Event Location:
Constance Laibe Hays Children's Room
Admission:
$20, for ages 7+

In this workshop, participants, led by esteemed poet and educator Karen Benke, will write letter poems to be mailed to friends, family, and acquaintances or left in beautiful Battery Park to delight and astonish unsuspecting pedestrians.

Karen Benke and registered guests will focus on generosity and on enclosing parts of their hearts, by way of letter poems, using three short and accessible forms: the letter acrostic, the seventeen-line haiku, and magic word tickets. At the conclusion of the workshop, a field trip will be taken to the big blue box to mail letter poems and trail of poem-notes will be left along the way in the light of day!
